Alwar is situated 150 km north of Jaipur. It contains a compact set of historical monuments including a hilltop fort, a city palace, and a series of cenotaphs. The city is also flanked by the Sariska Tiger Reserve to the west.

Bala Quila
A large fort on a steep hillside above Alwar city, built between the 10th and 16th centuries by successive rulers including the Nikumbha Rajputs and the Mughals before passing to the Alwar royal family.

Vinay Vilas Palace
The royal palace of the Alwar maharajas, built in 1793. The palace complex includes the Diwan-i-Khas, Diwan-i-Aam, and a series of painted halls. The museum section contains a collection of paintings, manuscripts, weapons, and royal artefacts.

Moosi Maharani ki Chhatri
An 18th-century double-storied cenotaph constructed in red sandstone and marble with intricate lattice screens and painted ceilings. One of the finest examples of Rajput funerary architecture in northeastern Rajasthan.

Sariska Tiger Reserve
The first tiger reserve in the world to have lost all its tigers — all were poached by 2004. Tigers were reintroduced from Ranthambore beginning in 2008 and the population has been slowly recovering. Safari zones operate in the core area with a permit system.
Timing: Safari timings — 6:30 AM – 10:00 AM and 2:30 PM – 6:00 PM. Closed Wednesdays. Safari season — October to June. Reserve closed July to September.

Bhangarh Fort
A ruined 17th-century fort town built by Madho Singh I. The fort complex contains the remains of temples, palaces, havelis, and market streets spread across a hillside — the scale of the abandoned town is largely unrestored.
